Julep Maven Box #17: December 2012 It Girl (Full Coverage Glitters)
| December 31, 2012 | Posted by peach_ under Julep Maven |
It feels strange to wrap up the year with yet another Julep post, but since I didn’t post enough this year to warrant a “best of” favorite polishes post, I thought I’d talk about a 2012 Julep Box without carrying it into the new year. If I had to sum up Julep, I’ve overall been very pleased with the subscription program and am happy to try out new polishes from them monthly. We had choices of glittery polishes to end the year, and though I wouldn’t think to pick up glitters myself, I’m ecstatic to have these in my hands.
Included in the December 2012 It Girl box (descriptions via Julep):
- Harper – full-coverage opalescent mermaid blue multi-dimensional glitter
- Ivy – dynamic sapphire micro-glitter metallic
- Vivien - ’Champagne bubbles’- a full coverage multi-dimensional gold glitter
How pretty! I’m especially intrigued by Harper. I’m just hoping these glitters aren’t difficult to remove!
You know, I always love the quotes included in the boxes. I find myself nodding to many in agreement.
As a freebie, Julep included a create-your-own cabochon ring to wear your favorite nail polish as a ring. I wish the quality was better so that I’d actually wear it, but it’ll be a fun little DIY project nonetheless.
What did you think of your December Maven Box? I’m not the biggest glitter fan, but I can’t deny that they’re major eye candy!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Year of the Dragon! Thank you so much for continuing to read and comment despite my absences and whenever-I-feel-like-it sporadic posts. Your comments and views encourage and motivate me to keep improving. And I’ve been really enjoying getting to know you better through here!
Happy New Year!

We got the same box! I loved this one; all three polishes are very pretty. I also added on “Julia”, for obvious reasons, even though I knew it would be very similar to either Zoya Daul or OPI It’s My Year, both of which I own. It was okay though because I paid for the add-on using my “jules”.
Oh, and I got my January box today. I’m not 100% on the colors to be honest…since I didn’t make my selection in time I defaulted to the Boho Glam box, so I got a green (Fiona) and a nude (Teresa). The green is pretty but historically I have not be inclined to wear similar colors and the nude looks a bit fleshy to me. We’ll see. The box and extras are cute, as usual
.
Wow, you get the boxes fast! I got Boho Glam, too. I had such a hard time choosing the January colors because I wasn’t too thrilled with any of the neons or nudes (but still didn’t really want to skip.) In the end, I went with the box that I had the “oddest” colors — yeah, that green is not something I’ll be reaching for often, either!
Ah! I remember seeing Julep Julia as an option and thinking you *must* get it. How perfect that it’s such a sparkly, pretty color.
Have you worn these 3 colors yet?
I swatched the colors but haven’t worn them yet. Julep ships out really fast–the selection period ends on the 25th and I almost always get my box before the 1st of the month.
Nice, you have a whole month to play!
I wish I could get them as fast, too.
Hey Peach! Happy New Year! These are really nice! Got Ivy in the Jewel Tone Gift set I bought on sale for $12! BTW, I had a hissy fit and cancelled my Julep Maven Membership. I’ll still buy the polishes, but I’ve had it with their Maven membership!
Happy New Year, pook! I hope you’ve been having a good break! Nice deal on the set — their sales sell out fast! Ivy reminds me of a sparkly version of Dior Tuxedo. I’m hoping it shows the purple duochrome better than the Dior.
What happened with the membership?!
Lots of hidden and unexplained things. Plus, I don’t like their “mixes.” You should be able to make your own package every month, the bottles break in transit, products fail (their crackle polish is the worst) and they won’t allow returns anymore! So I’m done. I signed up with both Birchbox and Beauty Bar from Allure. For $6 more than I was paying for Julep, I get all kinds of stuff, but 25% discount certificates. AND you get nail polish, too!
Oh no, that’s too bad. But at least you can still partake in sales like you’re doing.
I think the US has so many great beauty boxes with full sized products. It might be because cosmetics are generally expensive in Japan because subscription services here don’t impress me at all. Boo!
Sephora here sells Julep, as well, so I have that option, too. You have other GREAT things in Japan! So many different and innovative products. We’re just getting BB creams here! The REAL great place to be is England or France. They really get one up in the market.
What sort of products from England do you like? You’re right, we do have many innovative and/or visually appealing products in Japan — it’s funny when you’re surrounded by them, imported products seem more appealing.
It’s too bad most products in Japan stay in Japan, though. Would love to remedy that some day!
Me, too. I wonder why that is. I don’t even see stuff on eBay from Japan. Just China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. No Korea and no Japan.
But from England, there are all kinds of products, Ciate was one of them, Lush UK is so much better than Lush NA, everytime I see something great, it’s from England! They have these fantastic hair extensions, real high quality stuff they don’t have here. The nice thing is, since they developed the option to send first class international, it’s been so much easier to get product from there than it used to be.
I think it’s because there isn’t an eBay Japan and we have our own auction sites. I think it has a lot to do with language barrier, too.
I never knew Lush UK is different from Lush NA! That makes me wonder if Lush in Japan is different as well — I know products are completely renamed, which makes things very confusing! I know you love Ciate — still haven’t tried them, but one day! They’re just so darn cute.
